The event was hosted by Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) and co-organized by the Machinery Industry Education Development Center and the Secretariat of the Cluster-Based Training Program for Highly Skilled Talent in Intelligent Construction Machinery and Equipment.

Six experts, including Dr. Nie Wei and Dr. Han Qian from the China National Academy of Educational Sciences, Zhao Cunji, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Liaocheng Vocational College of Science and Technology, Zhang Ran, Director of the Academic Affairs Office of Tangshan Polytechnic University, Mao Hongmei, Dean of the School of Urban Rail Transit Engineering at Shaanxi Railway Institute, and Professor Kang Juxia from Shaanxi A&F Technology University, joined Qu Fan and Chen Zhengzhen, members of the Standing Committee of the CPC LZPU Committee and Vice Presidents of LZPU, along with university leaders, academic program directors, and key faculty members representing more than 40 higher vocational institutions across China and technical experts from industry and enterprises, to explore practical approaches to implementing reforms of key elements of vocational education and teaching.

The seminar featured three components: keynote reports, group discussions, and site visits.

At the seminar, Qu Fan delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of LZPU, expressing his hope that the participating experts would share their insights and expertise, work together to deepen reforms of key elements of vocational education and teaching, and transform the methodology of “Job Shadowing and Task Analysis” into replicable and scalable teaching reform outcomes.

During the keynote report session, the six experts delivered presentations titled “Theoretical Reflections on Job Shadowing and Task Analysis,” “Practical Procedures for Job Shadowing and Task Analysis,” “Deepening Internal Institutional Governance Reform Through Job Shadowing and Task Analysis,” “Practical Exploration of Standardized Job Shadowing and Task Analysis in Humanoid Robotics,” “Bringing Curriculum Development to the Tunnel Face: Practical Exploration of Job Shadowing and Task Analysis for the Course ‘Operation and Maintenance of Intelligent Rock Drilling Jumbos,’” and “From Farm Workstations to Classroom Teaching: Practical Exploration of Job Shadowing and Task Analysis for the Course ‘Green Pest Management Technologies for Crops,’” covering topics from theory to practice and from institutional governance to curriculum development, and together presenting a comprehensive approach to implementing “Job Shadowing and Task Analysis.”

During the group discussions, experts offered recommendations on eight courses, including Operation and Maintenance of Construction Machinery Manufacturing Equipment and Integration and Commissioning of Intelligent Welding Production Lines, focusing on competency mapping, the development of new-format teaching materials, and revisions to typical work task description forms, thereby identifying specific revisions and a task list for the next stage of curriculum development.

On the morning of October 18, participants visited LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. to gain firsthand insights into the company’s intelligent manufacturing operations and research and development activities. Lin Mingzhi, Chief Engineer, President of the Central Research Institute, Chief Scientist, and a National Excellent Engineer at LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd., then delivered an expert lecture and engaged in discussions with participants on cultivating highly skilled talent in intelligent construction machinery and equipment. Finally, Chen Zhengzhen summarized the seminar and outlined the work arrangements for the next stage.

This seminar marked the first focused, collaborative effort centered on “Job Shadowing and Task Analysis” since the Cluster-Based Training Program for Highly Skilled Talent in Intelligent Construction Machinery and Equipment entered its intensive implementation phase. The successful seminar established clear methods and approaches for competency mapping and new-format teaching material development for the program’s priority courses in 2026, marking the transition of job shadowing and task analysis in this field from initial exploration to standardized implementation. Government agencies, industry organizations, enterprises, and educational institutions will use this opportunity to deepen collaboration, jointly develop a new model of industry-education integration, and cultivate highly skilled talent capable of supporting industrial upgrading and China’s development as a manufacturing powerhouse.
