Liu Zilin, Secretary of the CPC LZPU Committee, Attends World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference 2026 and Delivers a Keynote Speech at Parallel Session
From News Center (Text by Tang Yuqin and Zhang Qi, School of International Education; Photo by the conference organizer) The World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference 2026 was held in Tianjin on October 16, 2026. Jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education, the National Commission of the People's Republic of China for UNESCO, and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government, the conference is the highest-level international event in the field of vocational education worldwide. Under the theme of "TVET: Co-Embracing Change, Co-Forging Standards, Co-Creating Future," the conference featured five parallel forums.
Liu Zilin, Secretary of the CPC LZPU Committee, was invited to attend the conference and delivered a keynote speech titled "Industry and Education Aligned, Together Across Mountains and Seas: LZPU's Exploration of China-ASEAN TVET Collaboration" at the parallel forum "TVET Forging a New Landscape for Regional Cooperation."
In his address, Liu shared Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU)'s innovative practices in supporting enterprises' overseas expansion and regional collaboration from four perspectives: jointly establishing educational platforms through diversified investment, introducing a tailored "One Enterprise, One Plan" approach to meet enterprise needs, facilitating integration through shared standards, and building a collaborative ecosystem through alliances. He emphasized that cross-border vocational education cooperation requires both a solid foundation of physical educational platforms and precise alignment with industry needs, noting that LZPU had established seven International Craftsman Colleges in countries including Thailand and Indonesia through an innovative tripartite partnership model, mobilized Chinese enterprises such as LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd. and Shennan Circuits Co., Ltd. to contribute training equipment valued at more than RMB 32 million, and advanced the joint establishment of the China-Indonesia Engineering and Technology College and the China-Thailand Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Technology Center. Meanwhile, the university had implemented the customized "One Enterprise, One Plan" training model, providing tailored training for more than 850 students on behalf of 13 Chinese advanced manufacturing enterprises, training participants on more than 8,000 occasions, and providing over 30 technical services. Through the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance established under LZPU's leadership, the university worked with 35 Chinese and Indonesian institutions to jointly develop teaching standards for two majors and 28 courses, facilitated dual certification of the standards by China and Indonesia, and established a pathway of "Joint Development–Certification–Local Integration." The alliance brought together 344 member organizations and facilitated cooperation agreements between 45 pairs of Chinese and Indonesian institutions, building a strong foundation for multilateral collaboration.
As a vocational undergraduate university primarily dedicated to serving China's advanced manufacturing industry, LZPU has actively participated in the Belt and Road Initiative in recent years and proactively responded to the overseas expansion needs of Chinese advanced manufacturing enterprises, ranking first nationwide in "competitiveness in taking vocational education global" according to a third-party assessment. Looking ahead, LZPU will continue to deepen industry-education integration and work with governments, educational institutions, and enterprises across ASEAN to jointly identify needs, develop standards, establish platforms, and foster a shared development ecosystem. Undeterred by geographical distances or institutional differences, the university will demonstrate vocational education's mission and responsibilities through cross-border collaboration and make greater contributions to China's broader diplomatic objectives and regional economic and social development.
