From News Center (Text by Liu Jing and Li Guojun, Academic Affairs Office; Photo by the winning teams) Recently, the qualifying rounds of the World Vocational College Skills Competition 2026 were held successively across the country. This comprehensive skills competition brought together top competitors from vocational institutions nationwide. It serves as a "litmus test" for evaluating the quality of technical and vocational talent cultivation, as well as an important showcase for the achievements of China's vocational education reform and development.

Competing against top contenders nationwide, LZPU teams set a new record with 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals

At the competition, LZPU teams went head-to-head with top competitors across the country, demonstrating exceptional grit and perseverance. Ultimately, they brought home 5 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. Both the gold medal tally and the total medal count exceeded those of 2025, setting a new all-time record. LZPU's overall standing remains firmly in Guangxi's top tier and ranks among the leading peer institutions nationwide.

Five gold medals were won across four secondary schools, marking comprehensive breakthroughs across multiple fronts: the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering clinched gold in the Intelligent Equipment Application track (higher vocational group), demonstrating formidable prowess in equipment manufacturing; the School of Electronic Information Engineering claimed gold in its debut in the Artificial Intelligence track (undergraduate vocational group), seizing the strategic high ground in the smart era through a "New Engineering" approach; the School of Arts captured gold in the Art and Design track (higher vocational group), achieving a distinctive breakthrough for art major at an engineering-focused institution; and the School of Finance and Logistics Management secured gold in both the Logistics and Supply Chain track and the Finance and Economics track (both higher vocational group), becoming the first school to secure two gold medals at LZPU. The two silver and two bronze medals were equally impressive: the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering won one silver and two bronzes in the Electromechanical Equipment Installation & Maintenance and the Machinery Design and Manufacture tracks, achieving a 100% win rate across all four participating teams; the School of Electronic Information Engineering took silver in its national debut in the Electronics, Electrical Appliances, and Integrated Circuits track (higher vocational group). Behind every medal lies the tireless dedication of faculty and students who worked day and night to hone their skills—a vivid testament to teamwork and perseverance in the face of challenges.

Earlier, at the 2026 Guangxi Vocational College Skills Competition, LZPU's faculty and student teams also delivered outstanding results, garnering 13 golds, 16 silvers, and 16 bronzes. The gold medal count placed LZPU among the top vocational colleges in the region. LZPU's undergraduate-level vocational majors, national-level major groups, and distinctive art majors all performed strongly at the regional level, establishing a positive momentum of "breaking through at the national level and leading at the regional level."

Hosting a national competition for the first time, LZPU demonstrated its commitment to vocational education through first-class event organization

During the competition, LZPU successfully hosted the Logistics and Supply Chain track (higher vocational group), welcoming 136 teams from across the nation to Liuzhou to compete. From event coordination to logistical services, and from venue setup to technical support, the entire university worked in unison with high standards and meticulous care, winning widespread acclaim from participating institutions and the organizing committee. This event not only served as a comprehensive test of LZPU's capacity to host major competitions, but also highlighted the our exceptional educational capabilities. It further elevated Liuzhou's profile and appeal as a vital hub along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, injecting fresh momentum into the upgrading of the regional logistics industry and the high-quality development of vocational education.

Promoting teaching, learning, and reform through competitions, LZPU transforms its competitive strengths into strong support for local industry.

These remarkable achievements were by no means accomplished overnight; rather, they represent the culmination of LZPU's long-term commitment to in-depth reforms centered on "promoting teaching, learning, and reform through competitions." We have seamlessly integrated competition standards into curricula, introduced authentic industrial scenarios into practical training, and translated competition-driven collaboration into effective mechanisms for cultivating teamwork and professional competence. Building upon two rounds of the National Top-Notch Vocational Institutions and Programs Plan and the development of national-level major groups, LZPU is driving systematic reforms across core teaching dimensions: cultivating highly skilled talent in intelligent construction machinery; aligning the Artificial Intelligence major with Guangxi's emerging industries; providing productive logistics services to bolster Liuzhou's emergence as a modern manufacturing city; and advancing the differentiated development of art majors in engineering institutions. Together, these distinctive educational pathways weave a comprehensive framework integrating competitions with teaching, and industry with education.

From clinching gold medals in top competitions to fostering the growth of teachers and students and establishing a replicable educational model, LZPU is steadily transforming its competitive strengths into strong support for local industry.

Forging ahead with renewed momentum, LZPU is committed to cultivating more master craftsmen for regional development

Past achievements set the foundation; dedicated effort shapes the future. Moving forward, we will continue to integrate competition outcomes into teaching programs and incorporate competitive experience into curricular reform, empowering more students to grow into high-caliber technical and skilled talent through "learning by doing" and "sharpening skills through competition." LZPU will embrace a proactive attitude to support Liuzhou in building its "10+N" modern industrial system, establishing Liuzhou into a manufacturing engine along the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt and a core hub along the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, and deepening industrial capacity cooperation with ASEAN to cultivate more skilled artisans and master craftsmen. In doing so, we aim to write an even more splendid chapter in the development of vocational education in the new era.
