From News Center (Text by Li Li, Academic Affairs Office; Photo by Secondary Schools) Recently, the results of the international group of the World Vocational College Skills Competition 2026 were officially announced. As the leading Chinese institution, LZPU formed joint teams with partner institutions from Indonesia, Thailand, and other countries to compete. The teams achieved remarkable results, taking home two silver and two bronze medals across categories including intelligent equipment applications, next-generation information technology, and commerce. This success fully demonstrates LZPU's comprehensive strength in organizing international skills competitions, coordinating cross-institutional preparations, and cultivating talent through the integration of industry and education.

The international group of the competition required teams to be formed through transnational and cross-institutional collaboration, focusing on evaluating the teams' comprehensive capabilities in technical proficiency, professional competence, practical application value, teamwork, and innovation. Each competing team consisted of one Chinese student from LZPU and international students from partner institutions, co-advised by one LZPU faculty member and one faculty member from a partner institution. Among them, the two teams formed in collaboration with Indonesian institutions consisted of Indonesian international students cultivated through the joint education program between LZPU and its Indonesian partners, while the two teams formed with Thai institutions comprised students from the partner institutions in Thailand. Throughout the preparation process, LZPU worked closely with its overseas partner institutions to plan each program, refine competition proposals, and carry out training, thereby showcasing the university's achievements in the development of related major groups on the global stage.

Among the award-winning teams, the "SmartCell Inspection—Automated and Intelligent Upgrading of Lithium Battery Testing Equipment" program in the Intelligent Equipment Application track—led by Politeknik Negeri Jakarta in Indonesia and jointly supervised by Professor Li Shuqing from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and faculty members from the Indonesian partner institution—won a silver medal; in the Next-Generation Information Technology track, the "High-Altitude Glass Curtain Wall Cleaning Robot" program, led by Politeknik Negeri Balikpapan in Indonesia and jointly supervised by Professor Wang Youwei from the School of Electronic Information Engineering and faculty members from the Indonesian partner institution, won a silver medal; the "Miao Silver: Cross-Regional Outreach of Intangible Cultural Heritage Through Digital Commerce" program in the Commerce and Trade track, led by King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in Thailand and jointly supervised by Professor Guan Xuan from the School of Trade and Tourism Management and faculty members from the Thai partner institution, won a bronze medal; from the same lead institution, the "Digital Go-Global Solution for Bamboo Weaving" program in the Commerce and Trade track—jointly supervised by Professor Jiang Peng from the School of Trade and Tourism Management and faculty members from the Thai partner institution—won a bronze medal.

The award-winning programs focus on cutting-edge areas including the intelligent upgrading of lithium-ion battery testing equipment, aerial work robotics, the digital commercial promotion of intangible cultural heritage, and the international expansion of the bamboo weaving industry, reflecting the fruitful educational outcomes of "integrating competitions with education, industry with education, and international collaboration." Moving forward, LZPU will continue to leverage international competitions like the World Vocational College Skills Competition as a driving force to deepen the development of major groups and the integration of competitions with education. We will translate competition standards, industrial scenarios, and international collaboration experiences into instructional resources to cultivate more high-caliber technical and skilled professionals with a global vision, exceptional skills, and an innovative spirit, thereby supporting regional industrial development and the internationalization of vocational education.
