From News Center (Text by Liu Yonghua, School of Liuzhou Luosifen Industry; Photo by Qin Yuming, School of Liuzhou Luosifen Industry) On the morning of October 4, 2026, the 2nd "Jiangzi Cup" Intangible Cultural Heritage Storytelling Competition and Exhibition officially launched at the Liuzhou Sports and Leisure Square. Serving as a major highlight of the 2026 Liuzhou Luosifen Food Carnival and Trendy Lifestyle Festival, the launch ceremony was infused with distinctive intangible cultural heritage (ICH) elements. It brought heritage stories directly to local residents, making traditional culture tangible, vibrant, and accessible.

The competition was hosted by LZPU, organized by the Liuzhou Culinary and Catering Association and LZPU's School of Liuzhou Luosifen Industry, and co-organized by the Liuzhou Public Speaking, Eloquence, and Image Planning Association, the Liuzhou Folk Culture Research Association, and Guangxi Yongsong Heritage Culture Communication Co., Ltd. Chen Fang, Party Secretary of LZPU's School of Trade and Tourism Management and Dean of the School of Liuzhou Luosifen Industry; Wu Mengxue, President of the Liuzhou Culinary and Catering Association; Zhou Hongmei, President of the Liuzhou Folk Culture Research Association; Li Yuanlong, ICH inheritor of the Liuzhou Luosifen preparation craft; Jin Di, representative of the Liuzhou Public Speaking, Eloquence, and Image Planning Association; along with corporate representatives, faculty, and students from the School of Liuzhou Luosifen Industry, gathered to witness the grand launch of the competition.

The 2nd "Jiangzi Cup" Intangible Cultural Heritage Storytelling Competition has been fully upgraded from its inaugural edition, broadening its reach from Liuzhou to all of Guangxi and opening participation to all age groups. The preliminary round combined online video submissions with in-person auditions, leading up to the finals in mid-to-late November. A variety of concurrent activities will also take place, including exclusive interviews with ICH inheritors and exhibitions featuring representative craft products.

At the launch ceremony, Su Lin, a student from LZPU's School of Trade and Tourism Management and the inaugural Grand Prize winner, took the stage to share her journey. Reflecting on last year's event—where she and her teammate Chen Liuxin showcased Liuzhou's intangible cultural heritage through a bowl of river snail rice noodles and a folk song—she warmly encouraged heritage enthusiasts across Guangxi to take part: "This year, the competition has expanded across the entire autonomous region and welcomes participants of all ages. Whether you are a student, a working professional, or a retiree, as long as you carry a story of intangible cultural heritage in your heart, this stage is yours."

Intangible cultural heritage is a cornerstone of fine traditional Chinese culture. The 2nd competition serves as a storytelling bridge, taking intangible cultural heritage off museum display lists and into living conversations, moving it from glass cases into the hearts and homes of the community. As more people step forward as storytellers and advocates, intangible cultural heritage transforms from a distant memory into an everyday reality that can be heard, felt, and passed down. This embodies the core mission of the "Jiangzi Cup"—to keep cultural heritage alive through storytelling and revitalize it through active transmission.
