From News Center (Text by Zang Xiaohui, Scientific Research Department; Photo by Chen Chen, Publicity Department of the CPC LZPU Committee) On the morning of September 17, 2026, Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) held the Launch Ceremony and First Working Meeting of Technology Research Institutes in Conference Room 300 of the Administration Building on the Shewan Campus. Liu Zilin, Secretary of the CPC LZPU Committee, and Ju Hongxia, Vice President of LZPU, attended the meeting. Also present were the heads of the Scientific Research Department, School-Enterprise Cooperation Office, Office of Academic Affairs, International Exchange Department, Center for Faculty Development, and other administrative departments, as well as the heads of the 12 technology research institutes and their key academic and technical faculty members. Ju Hongxia chaired the meeting.

Liu Zilin outlined four requirements for the development of the technology research institutes. First, they should prioritize technology, draw research topics from enterprises, and serve students. The institutes should identify research topics based on the needs of frontline production and cutting-edge technologies, pursue research and development in collaboration with enterprises, involve students in R&D teams, and cultivate skilled and innovative professionals. Second, they should adopt a results-oriented approach and a swarm model. The institutes should be developed through an open approach, with schools and enterprises working together to tackle key challenges and gradually produce a portfolio of patented technologies and R&D outcomes. Third, overall coordination and investment should be strengthened. LZPU should continue to increase research funding, lay a solid foundation, and advance the work steadily. Fourth, sustained efforts should be made to develop distinctive strengths. The institutes should take a long-term perspective, focus on the frontiers of industrial development, and devote five to ten years of sustained effort to developing the distinctive research strengths of a vocational university.

At the meeting, Liu Zilin presented plaques to the 12 technology research institutes, including those specializing in embodied intelligent robotics, artificial intelligence, intelligent manufacturing, and low-altitude economy applications. He also presented letters of appointment to representatives of the institute heads. Each plaque and letter of appointment embodied LZPU's trust and expectations while also representing a weighty responsibility and mission.

The Notice on the Establishment of 12 University-Level Research Institutions, Including the Intelligent Manufacturing Technology Research Institute was read aloud at the meeting. The heads of the 12 technology research institutes then delivered reports on their development plans, research areas, and key tasks.

The establishment of the technology research institutes is an important measure to implement the guiding principles of the First Congress of the Communist Party of China at LZPU and enhance the quality and substance of the university's research. It has further strengthened LZPU's research system and provided fresh impetus for its high-quality development. The institutes will focus on industry needs, strengthen team building, deepen collaborative innovation, and produce more landmark achievements. In doing so, they will make new and greater contributions to LZPU's development into a high-level vocational and technical university and to high-quality economic and social development in the region.
