From News Center (Text by the Office of Academic Affairs; Photo by Chen Chen, Publicity Department of the CPC LZPU Committee, and the Convergence Media Center) On September 21, the Logistics and Supply Chain Track (Higher Vocational Group) of the Contention Round of the World Vocational College Skills Competition (WVCSC) 2026 officially opened in Liuzhou. Jointly hosted by Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) and Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College (GTVTC), the event brought together 136 teams from higher vocational colleges across China for two days of competition.

Li Qinglin, a member of the Leading Party Members' Group of the People's Government of Liuzhou City; Liu Zilin, Secretary of the CPC LZPU Committee; Wan Fengfeng, Director of the Division of Vocational and Adult Education of the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Ren Haoxiang, a member of the Party Committee of the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing and President of the China Society of Logistics; Li Junfeng, Director of the Education and Training Department of the China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing; Huang Yunqi, a member of the Party Committee and Vice President of GTVTC; Zhang Xiaoyan, Chief Judge of the Logistics and Supply Chain Track (Higher Vocational Group); Li Daijun, Judging Inspector; Ma Yuli, Chief Arbitrator; and Huang Huang, Chief Discipline Supervisor, were among the officials and guests attending the opening ceremony.

In his address, Li Qinglin said that Liuzhou's selection as the host city represented full recognition by the state and the autonomous region of the city's industrial foundation, vocational education resources, and capacity to organize the event. He said that Liuzhou would make every effort to provide services and logistical support for the competition before declaring it officially open. Citing development opportunities such as the opening of the Pinglu Canal to navigation, Liu Zilin outlined LZPU's achievements in developing its logistics major. He emphasized that the university would mobilize all its resources to provide services and support for the competition and expressed the hope that the contestants would fully demonstrate their craftsmanship, dedication, and technical skills. Wan Fengfeng said that hosting the competition provided an opportunity to assess Guangxi's achievements in vocational education and its ability to organize major events. He encouraged the contestants to hone their skills through competition and perform with skill and sportsmanship, while calling on the judges to officiate impartially so that all parties could jointly deliver a high-level skills event. Ren Haoxiang noted that industry organizations are important platforms for deepening industry-education integration and advancing the integrated "job positions, courses, competitions, and certificates" model of talent development. He added that industry experts would provide strong support to ensure that the competition was conducted professionally, according to established standards, and fairly.

The WVCSC is China's national vocational skills competition with the highest profile, the broadest range of disciplines, the largest number of contestants, and the greatest social impact. Its tracks are closely aligned with the major sectors of the national economy. The Logistics and Supply Chain Track focuses on cutting-edge fields such as smart warehousing operations, supply chain data analysis and optimization, and the application of intelligent logistics technologies. With an emphasis on tasks "drawn from real-world settings, solving real problems, and demonstrating real skills," the track highlights skills innovation and all-round talent development. It provides an important platform for evaluating the outcomes of logistics vocational education and promoting exchanges and development among skilled professionals. The competition consists of three stages: the preliminary round, semifinal, and final. The final comprises the Contention Round, Ranking Round, and Grand Final. The Logistics and Supply Chain Track (Higher Vocational Group) has attracted 136 teams, which are divided into 14 parallel groups. The official competition runs from September 22 to 23, with the top two teams advancing to the Ranking Round. Gold, silver, and bronze awards will be presented to 10%, 15%, and 25% of all participating teams, respectively.

Both vocational colleges hosting the competition have strong foundations in logistics and supply chain education. LZPU's Modern Logistics Management major is a key major developed under the National Exemplary Vocational College initiative, a provincial-level pilot major for modern apprenticeships, and one of LZPU's first vocational bachelor's degree majors. With "an industrial orientation in major development" as its defining feature, the major supports the entire procurement, production, and sales processes of the automotive and construction machinery supply chains. It has established autonomous region-level training facilities, including the "Automotive Industry Intelligent Logistics Training Center" and the "Automotive Industry Supply Chain Virtual Simulation Training Base." It has also developed long-term, in-depth university-enterprise partnerships with leading companies such as SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Automobile Group Co., Ltd.

GTVTC's Modern Logistics Management major was the first logistics management major established in Guangxi. It has been recognized as a high-quality major by the Ministry of Education, a model major at a national model college by the Ministry of Transport, and a key major supported by central government funding. Drawing on Guangxi's geographic advantage as a gateway to ASEAN, the major actively supports the national strategy to develop the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. It focuses on cutting-edge fields such as multimodal transport, cross-border logistics, and low-altitude logistics and is committed to cultivating high-quality technical and skilled professionals for the development of an integrated transportation system.

Drawing on their complementary strengths, the two colleges worked together to put the necessary venues, personnel, funding, and other resources in place. They operated under the leadership and guidance of the competition division's Organizing Committee and Executive Committee and their offices to ensure that the competition was conducted fairly, impartially, safely, economically, and with integrity.

Hosting the competition in Liuzhou will benefit both local industries and vocational education in several ways. Liuzhou is Guangxi's largest industrial city and has strong automotive, steel, and machinery industries. As part of the development of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the city is building the "Liuzhou-Qinzhou-ASEAN" rail-sea intermodal transport route. With Liuzhou-made products reaching overseas markets by sea at an accelerating pace, the city has an urgent need for logistics professionals. The competition provides logistics students from across China with a platform to exchange and improve their skills. It also encourages local institutions to keep pace with the latest industry developments, deepen industry-education integration, and better align course content with job requirements. From a regional development perspective, hosting such a high-level national competition will enhance Liuzhou's profile and appeal as a key hub on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and create new opportunities for the clustered development of the regional logistics industry and for greater opening-up and international cooperation.
