From News Center (Text and Photo by Chen Ting, School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering) On September 23, 2026, the Intelligent Equipment Application Track of the World Vocational College Skills Competition 2026 concluded at Wuxi University of Technology. With solid technical expertise, a well-developed intelligent equipment retrofit solution, and a strong capacity for innovative practice, the team from Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) stood out among numerous teams from across China and won a gold award.

The gold-winning project was titled "Digital and Intelligent Core Renewal: Intelligent Retrofit of Mobile Phone Lithium Battery Testing Equipment." It was supervised by Chen Ting and Li Shuqing of the Mechatronics Technology teaching team at the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The student team comprised Liao Liuchang and Liao Liteng from Class 1 of the 2024 Industrial Robotics Technology major (joint major) and Yan Xiaoman from Class 2 of the 2024 Electrical Automation Technology major. Addressing key challenges in production, operation, and maintenance in the lithium battery industry, the project combines cutting-edge technologies, including AI algorithms, machine vision correction, and digital twins, to intelligently retrofit conventional lithium battery testing equipment. It offers solutions to industry-wide problems such as inefficient operation and maintenance and limited intelligent functionality.

The project is highly practical and readily scalable, and its technologies have already been put into real-world use. It has attracted site visits and technical exchanges from several industry-leading companies and received strong recognition from companies including Dongguan NVT Technology Co., Ltd. The project provides the lithium battery industry with a replicable and readily deployable model for the intelligent upgrading of conventional equipment.

The gold award attests to LZPU's progress in developing its Equipment Intelligence Technology major group under the Double High Plan and in integrating industry with education and competitions with teaching. LZPU has long focused on developing its core major groups in intelligent manufacturing and electrical automation. Responding closely to industry needs, LZPU has deepened university-enterprise collaboration in talent development, established practical training platforms based on real production settings provided by enterprises, and created a closed-loop talent development system linking "enterprise needs, university R&D, and competition-enhanced learning."

Building on this achievement, LZPU will continue to strengthen its Equipment Intelligence Technology major group under the Double High Plan, deepen the integration of competitions with teaching and industry with education, and expand strategic cooperation with leading companies. Focusing on the frontiers of intelligent manufacturing, LZPU will further integrate digital and intelligent technologies into teaching and research innovation, continuously improve its talent development system, and cultivate more high-quality technical and skilled professionals equipped to meet industry needs. Through these efforts, LZPU will further enhance the quality of vocational education and its capacity to serve industry.
